In order to receive this award students must score a 3 or higher on three or more Advanced Placement exams, hoping to receive honors or distinguished awards. On Saturday, April 11th the Royal FFA Floriculture, Livestock, Nursery Landscape and Horse judging Teams competed in the Area III FFA Career Development Events in at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. There are over three hundred schools in the Area III FFA . Qualifying teams will advance to the state competition held May 1st and 2nd at SHSU and TAMU.
RHS results are as follows: The Floriculture Team Placed Third, the team consisted of Emma Nelson, Jocelyn Hernandez, Arely Ibarra, and Tracy Garcia. Emma Nelson was eighth high individual, Jocelyn Hernandez was fourteenth high individual, Tracy Garcia was nineteenth individual and Arely Ibarra was forty fourth individual. There were 228 individuals and 62 teams competing in the contest. The Nursery Landscape Team Placed Tenth, the team consisted of Robin Jung, Lanme Sierra, and Leslie Gonzalez.
The Livestock Team Placed forty third, the team consisted of Kennedy Navarrete, Cheyenne Beissner, Samuel Pyka, and Bryan Dawson. There were 326 individuals in the livestock contest. The Horse Judging Team placed thirty eighth out of 64 teams. Team consisting of Katie Pierce, Jenny Pierce, Amanda Ramos, and Jerry sierra. The Royal SkillsUSA had a very successful weekend at the State SkillsUSA Contest in Corpus Christi, Texas. Royal competed against other skills contestants from all across the State of Texas from 1A-6A.
In the Welding Contest, Felipe Gomez received 2nd place Runner-up.
The Welding Team Fabrication, David Soto, Juan Garcia, and Gilberto Carranza received 2nd place Runner-up.
Alejandro Torres, received a bronze medal in the Welding Technical Test.
In Welding Job Exhibit Team, Alejandro Torres, Ivan Rangel, and Jose Loyola received a perfect score of 100, Superior Rating, on their 10-ft Utility Trailer Project. Also, David Cisneros received a 95 Superior Rating on the Fire Pit/Grill.
In the Machining Job Exhibit, Ana Hernandez received Excellent Rating on her aluminum domino set. Also, Sixto Montoya and Jesus Montoya received Machining Best of Show with their aluminum cannon.
Christopher Quinteros was the STATE CHAMPION of the Precision Machining Contest!
The Royal Audio Visual Production Quiz Bowl Team, Desiree Aguirre, Tristan Cuevas, Jordin Gonzalez, Mildre Gonzalez, Maria Razo, and Cody Garcia
was the STATE CHAMPION Team in the A/V Production Quiz Bowl Contest!!!!

Royal Academic Team Excels at District Meet
The District 27AAAA academic contests were held the week of March 24 through the 27th. Participants placing in the top three individual spots as well the team that wins the District Championship in each event have qualified for the Region IV Contest held at Texas A&M Corpus Christi on April 24 and 25.
The Social Studies team composed of Jesus Hernandez, Sophia Smoot, Hector Tena, and Kennedy Navarrete placed 2nd. Jesus finished 3rd qualifying for the regional meet.
The Science team composed of Pranav Kalyani, Jesus Hernandez, Francisco Longoria, Robin Jung, Tracy Garcia, and Andrea Govea finished 2nd. Pranav was 2nd overall and Jesus was 4th and qualified for regional by being the chemistry division winner.
In mathematics, Pranav Kalyani ranked 4th and Francisco Longoria was 6th. In Computer Applications Tracy Garcia finished 2nd, Arely Ibarra was 3rd , and Maritza Padron was 5th . Both Tracy and Arely will advance to the regional competition.
Maritza Padron was the meet champion and regional qualifier in the Accounting contest and Gerardo Jimenez was 6th. The Accounting team composed of Maritza, Gerardo, Conrad Jung, and Kennedy Navarrete finished 2nd.
Emma Nelson qualified for regional by winning district in Ready Writing while Robin Jung placed 4th. Rebecca Cabello qualified for the third consecutive year, winning the district championship in Editorial Writing. Leslie Perez also finished 4th in that event.
