  • AP Scholar Awards

    Royal seniors have earned the AP Scholar Award from the College Board. In order to receive this award students must score a 3 or higher on three or more Advanced Placement exams, hoping to receive honors or distinguished awards.   • Academic Team Excels at Crosby Invitational

    The RHS UIL Academic Science team won the meet championship on Saturday, January 24th at the Crosby Invitational. Team work, preparation and commitment yielded "success" for this team. Team members include Pranav Kalyani, Francisco Longoria, Jesus Hernandez, Andrea Govea, Tracy Garcia, Yash Kalyani, Jordin Gonzalez, Josefina Espinosa, and Hector Tena. Pranav Kalyani was the overall meet champion and he also won the top Chemistry and top Physics awards. Francisco Longoria was the top Biology winner. Jesus Hernandez was second overall and second in Chemistry.
    Tracy Garcia placed second in Computer Applications. Sophia Smoot finished 6th in Social Studies and Jesus Hernandez was the second place finisher in Social Studies. Pranav Kalyani was the meet champion in Computer Science.
    The science and math teams will travel to Cy Lakes on Saturday, February 7th for their next competition.

  • RISD Students Compete In Special Olympics

    Special Olympics is the world's largest sports organization for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, providing year-round training and competitions to more than 4.4 million athletes in 170 countries. Some of RHS, along with RJHS, Life Skills students participated in the Special Olympics this past weekend. We had Felipe Villerreal, John Ryan, Kymberly Ruiz, and Arron Ruiz. Way to go RISD fellow falcons!

  • Academic Team Competes in Tournament

    The Royal High School academic team traveled to Alief Elisk High School to participate in their first invitational meet of the season on Saturday, January 10th. The RHS Science team composed of Jesus Hernandez, Pranav Kalyani, Francisco Longoria, Tracy Garcia, Leslie Perez, Yash Kalyani, Kimberly Castillo, and Andrea Govea placed second behind Clements High School. Jesus was sixth overall and Pranav followed finishing in seventh. Jesus was the meet’s Chemistry champion.
    The Literary Criticism team including Rebecca Cabello and Desiree Aguirre also placed second. Rebecca was fifth overall in this event. The writing team excelled placing in several events. Rebecca Cabello was the meet champion in Editorial Writing and Tracy Garcia was fifth. In News Writing, Arely Ibarra finished third. Placing in Headline Writing was Leslie Perez ranking third and Tracy Garcia sixth. Ready Writing students Michael Torres and Leslie Perez finished fifth and sixth. Tracy Garcia placed third in Computer Application and Sophia Smoot was sixth in Social Studies. The team will travel to El Campo Saturday the 17th.
